Thoughts

We were very sad to hear of Colin's passing. We will remember him as a good friend, who it was always a great pleasure to see and to spend time with. Graham spent many hours (I would love to be able to say they were exclusively "happy" hours, but.....) with Colin at international meetings in Vienna; far more enjoyable were the many times boredom got the better of us and we stood chatting outside over coffee or talking sport (or watching it) in one of Vienna's many cafes and restaurants. Colin's advice and expertise was immensely helpful to Graham ; but more importantly he was warm, friendly, kind and generous, and someone who clearly loved, and was proud of, his family. We will always remember Colin with great fondness, and send our very best wishes to all his family. Unfortunately we will be unable to attend his funeral, as we will be in New Zealand; but will be thinking of him and you all.

So many happy childhood memories with Colin and his brother Gary and their Mum and Dad (Aunty Barbara and Uncle Ray) and other family members and their friends - we used to have a holiday with the family every year for a week - full of games in the family home and on the beach - any space to be honest! Full of friendly rivalry - happy times. Sending lots of love to Colin and his family xx

It was a great privilege to work with so many fine, able and congenial colleagues in my time at the Foreign Office; and Colin was just such a colleague and friend for many years as we toiled away in Vienna on CTBT issues. I will always remember the many great times we had in Flanagan's Irish pub for the Six Nations Rugby matches at weekends, especially when Wales (and Scotland) won; and at Steakpoint restaurant where Colin was the only person I had ever seen send a steak back twice because it wasn't well done enough to his liking! We all have such great memories of Colin, it's so sad that he has left us so soon.
